This is one of the most common questions we get, "Why are some shops so much more expensive than others?" Getting access to films and watching a few videos may give you a general understanding of film application but the price you pay isn't as much for raw material and tools, as it is having the reassurance of a clean and warrantied installation. The "value tinter" will usually have a film good enough to get paid but weeks later....bubbles, fading and hazing set in. Paying the extra cost for a film with extended or lifetime warranty is the key to getting a consistent finish with comfort of knowing, if anything fails....You're covered!
With so many types of films for applications and unique design capabilities with our plotter systems, we often even amaze ourselves on what a little design work and proper drying time can do to even the most custom of installations. Check out some cool stuff tint can do!
Drapes, curtains and blinds do a nice job of creating privacy and reducing visible light but ultimeatly they are there for looks . Over extended periods of time drapes shades or blinds will even fade and become damaged from prolonged exposure to heat and UV rays, causing fading on all types of surfaces, from fabrics to flooring to furniture. Window film provides 100% protection and heat reduction on every piece of glass installed without the hassel of opening and closing or losing visibilty in a favorite room or space. Stay cool in your work or play space while having your choice from over 300 types of film available for any and every type of application.
One aspect to consider when talking about the drying time of window film is the time of year and weather. Cold and non-sunny weather conditions can lengthen the dry time, while warm weather and direct sun light exposure will shorten it. If slower drying seems to be occuring, the trapped moisture will dry-out completely over time with sun exposure. Some safety and security window films will always have a longer dry- out period due to their increased thickness. Thicker films and a less than perfect drying climate will lengthen the dry period. Do not attempt to pierce a water puddle during the dry period. This water and cloudy look will eventually dissipate. Attempting to pierce a water puddle in an effort to drain moisture will damage your film and ultimately void warranties. Be patient and let the film cure in its own time.
The manufacturers of our window films utilize numerous types of scratch resistant coatings during the manufacturing process. This scratch resistant coating is applied to the exterior surface of the window film to protect the film from normal wear and tear based on natural environment of the installation. While most quality films are scratch resistant, no window film is entirely scratch proof. With a small amount of care and precaution, window film can provide you with years of service and protection.
Window films have come a long way with technology and developing advancements that now offer many benefits to the consumer, sometimes the protection is there and you can't even see it. S&S films are a great option for those who need protecion from vandalism, smash-and-grab burglaries and natural disasters and anything in between. Protect what's inside without sacraficing visibility or design layouts.
All quality window films for both residential and commercial uses are warranted by the film’s manufacturer. Most residential window films are warranted for at least ten years. Due to the wide variety of window films now available, consult with your window tinting professional about the specific warranty of the film you select.
In short the answer is "No". With so many diffierent manufacturers and qulaities of film on the market, paired with our years of hands-on expereince, we know our films inside and out. Most consumer level films are limited in design and sold at a high rates because they are typically purchased in small rolls. We have purchased 10,000's of sq. ft. of film and stock many of our most popular films in house, so we are able to get better rates, more films and since we know and trust our manufacturers we can back each and every one of our over 300 films with a great warranty. More bang. Less buck. Period
Most window films have a scratch resistant coating on the outside surface of the film. This scratch resistant coating is used to protect the film from normal wear and tear. However, care and caution must still be used in cleaning the surface of the glass on which film has been applied to reduce possible damage:
- Use any normal household glass cleaning solutions or plain soapy water.
- Do not use any solution that contains abrasive material, such as baking soda. Comet, Softscrub, etc. Also, do not use anything sharp such as razor blades or scrubbing pads.
- Use soft clean lint-free towels.
- Use a soft cloth or soft rubber squeegee for drying the glass. Care must be taken when using a squeegee for drying the glass.
